Singapore to Delhi

Tired and weary until Paradise reached.

rain 19 °C

After a 12 hour sleep at the Swissotel The Stamford hotel we were up and about despite the grey skies and heavy rain. We found the Funan Mall which is jam-packed with Camera and Electronic gadget stores and purchased a new do it all lens for Celina's Nikon. Then back to the hotel and a few hours rest before our transfer to Changi Airport and a 21/2 hour wait. We got to meet another 8 of our fellow Scenic travellers who started off by telling us about their various back pain and other problems! Joy oh Joy. We then had a 5 hour flight on a Boeing 777 and had more leg room than ever on the exit row seats we had booked and for which we paid a little extra. Celina and I were entertained by our new found friend Justin who regaled us with tales of his adventures in India as a seeds company executive.
We eventually arrived in New Delhi at 10:30pm local time and were glad to see our luggage eventually show up on the carousel. We were picked by the Scenic group and driven through the extraordinary traffic to our hotel - The Imperial in New Delhi. This hotel was built in the period of the Raj between WW1 & WW2 and only 17 years before Indian Independence. It is full of historical documents and paintings of the 17th and 18th Centuries and shines with marble and exotic timbers. We arrived in our magnificent room at 12 midnight to find the best accomodation we can recall anywhere on our travels. The staff are very attentive and after a good sleep in our beautiful room we are ready to explore. We now know that we will be group of 24 and our tour will begin tomorrow morning.

Glad to hear that you arrived safely in Singapore. That was a spectacular view indeeed. As I recall that unusual hotel was still under construction when we saw it 18 months ago.

Sorry to hear about your fellow travellers starting the introductions with all their aches and pains. Hopefully they'll lighten up and be more fun once the tour begins. Is Justin the tour guide or one of the passengers?

Sounds like your first Indian hotel is beautiful, and hopefully a sign of good things to come.

Spoke to Carrie this morning and she will be turning on the watering system for you tonight.

Love you both! and kisses from me and Josh
